Convert Zoom chat timestamps

Takes comments in a Zoom chat log and converts the data for YouTube chapter markers.

Designed for conversations recorded on Zoom and uploaded to YouTube, this shortcut takes the Chat log saved with the recording and converts the timestamps into the duration at that timestamp.

For example, if the meeting started 3:45 pm (taken from the Parent Directory name where the chat is stored inside a recording folder) and the first comment is at 3:46, this will add 1:00 after it, repeating for every comment in the same fashion.

My goal was to use the timestampts as chapter markers for the sections in my podcast, which is recorded over Zoom – I could easily export the Chat log after leaving comments during the episode as chapter titles and then add those to the YouTube description to let people skip through the sections.

Otherwise, it’s just a helpful way to know what moment in a Zoom conversation to scrub too if you’re looking to match up a comment with a particular moment.
