Stream: Working with the Notion API (pt. 2)

On Friday, May 28, I hosted another stream teaching people how to use Shortcuts with the Notion API.

Last time we covered the basics, got our database IDs, pulled & opened posts, and created new entries – check out the member post to get the shortcuts we created in the first session.

This time, we went into more specific data objects as well as updating pages and creating more of a Shortcuts system on the front-end.

Become a member to get access to the stream, plus you’ll get:

  • New shortcuts on an ongoing basis
  • Extra ways to browse the catalog when you’re signed in
  • Prerelease notes & workflows I’m putting together

Welcome to Issue 36 of “What’s New in Shortcuts?”

Hey folks,

I’ve had the new iPad Pro and the Siri remote for Apple TV in my hands for a few days now – I wanted to give members a digest of my thoughts before I create videos on each, so look for those next week.

Plus, I’ve got a new set of shortcuts to go along with Flexibits’ apps, new Notion shortcuts, and a bundle of good links for you all – plus how I’m using Shortcuts with Apple TV:

🆕 NEW FROM ME THIS WEEK

Two apps with Shortcuts support for one subscription, my new Notion shortcuts, and another stream for diving deeper into the API – plus a teaser for next week:

  • CardHop and Fantastical
I’ve created two new shortcuts–Fantasticalendar and Rolodex for Cardhop–that take advantage of all the shortcuts available in Flexibits’ set of apps. Cardhop 2 just released on Tuesday with a cross-application subscription, so now one price gets you both apps – and these shortcuts can help you get even more out of those experiences.
  • Notion shortcuts from last week’s stream
In Last Thursday’s livestream, I walked viewers through working with Notion’s API from scratch – and came up with three shortcuts that members can use now to tap into Notion: Copy Notion Database ID, Open Notion Page, and Add Notion Page. Plus, I’m also adding time stamps to the previous stream to make it easier to follow along retroactively – look for those by the end of the day today.
  • New member stream on Friday at 9am PST
Following up on last week’s stream, I’m doing another this Friday at 9am PST / 12pm EST / 16:00 UTC to round out the Notion API exploration – I’ll be building shortcuts that interact with more advanced data types, building more of a front-end for the shortcuts themselves, and summarizing what I’ve learned into more digestible bits.

Hello folks,

This week we’ve got new iMac and iPad Pro reviews, my iPad Pro is arriving Friday, and we’re just weeks away from WWDC and new announcements for the next year of software for Apple devices.

Plus, there are new APIs to tap into, a new IDE for Shortcuts that more coding-oriented folks can use to build shortcuts, and I’ve been playing around with several fun shortcuts as I prepare for my last few videos before the beta season – check it all out:

Welcome to issue 15 of “What’s New in Shortcuts?”

Another fun week for Shortcuts users is complete – did any of you set up new shortcuts for the Home Screen once iOS 14.3 came out?

I want to see screenshots of your Home Screens–shortcuts or not–so reply to this email with yours and share some inspiration!

☺️ COME VIBE WITH ME

I have too much fun being dorky on the internet, but I couldn’t resist with the review unit of the AirPods Max that I picked up to test out – plus, I discovered a way to get at ProRAW photos:

Welcome to Issue 7 of “What’s New in Shortcuts?”

This week we saw iPhones shipping, I held a few Shortcuts Live streams, and my Home Screen system is almost fully operational.

This week I’m settling into some new office gear I got after talking to Matt Galligan about ergonomics–I’m excited (and comfy)–so expect some impressions of using an iPad with a monitor next weekend.

Until then, here’s what’s new with Shortcuts from this week:

📲 QUICK SHORTCUTS FOR iOS 14.1

Apple pushed out iOS 14.1 ahead of the new iPhones shipping – and they couldn’t help but add a few new things:
